Hi there! 👋 I’m Malik

I was born in London, raised in Switzerland, and moved to New York for my undergraduate studies. I always knew I wanted to build things and work with startups, which led me to start my career in tech as a Data Analyst in fintech. That’s where I first saw how great product teams operate — and realized I wanted to go deeper. I learned to code, started building websites from scratch, and began taking on freelance work, using tools like Framer to move faster and focus on what mattered: solving problems.

Along the way, I became increasingly interested in AI — especially how quickly it was evolving and the kinds of problems it could help solve. I worked in generative AI consulting, but I wanted to get closer to understanding the technology underpinning it. That’s why I’m currently at UCL pursuing an MSc in Computer Science, where I’m exploring the limits of Small Language Models and secure, offline AI.

At the core, I care about solving meaningful problems through thoughtful design and strong engineering. I’m less interested in the stack or the title — what matters to me is execution, clarity, and building things people actually use. This site is where I share projects, lessons learned, and how I think through all of it.

Outside of work I love reading, going to the gym, long walks, cooking, listening to music and playing football. I also am very into film, travel, music, and cars. And last but not least, an avid supporter of the Gunners!
